Smooth arc provides strong welds on steel and stainless steel

Description

The factory-reconditioned Lincoln Electric U1297 Stick Welder has both a 40 to 225 AC welding arc and a smoother, more stable 30 to 125 DC welding arc for a range of welding applications. The 40 to 225 amp AC output supports 3/16″ diameter mild steel electrodes and 5/32″ diameter of other electrodes such as stainless steel. The 30 to 125 amp DC output supports most 1/8″ diameter stick electrodes. It has a front mounted AC/DC polarity switch and full range amperage selector switch for accurate procedure setting. It has a 20% duty cycle at 225 amps AC and 125 amps DC that allows it to run 2 minutes out of each 10-minute period without overheating. The welder is NEMA rated, UL listed, and CSA approved. It comes with an electrode holder and cable, a work clamp and cable, and an input power cable with a plug.

Welders join two or more pieces of metal to form one solid piece by simultaneously applying heat to soften them and applying pressure to connect them. Stick welders, also known as arc welders, use an electrified arc that flows between a welding stick and the metal to join the pieces. Wire-fed welders use an electrified wire spool that is fed at a constant speed between the pieces of metal to join them.

Lincoln Electric manufactures welders and welding supplies, including the Century brand. The company, founded in 1895, is headquartered in Cleveland, OH.
