3M Speedglas Welding Helmet 9100-FX-Air with Adflo Powered Air Purifying Respirator High Efficiency System is an auto-darkening welding helmet that provides a constant drift of clean air for greater worker protection and comfort. With improved optics, the 3M Speedglas Auto Darkening Filter 9100XXi permits you to more readily recognize colors as compared to our other models. Welders will see a view that is less green. Colors, shades, tone as well as light and dark contrasts will all stand out with more vivid detail. Many welders will find they have better keep watch over of the weld puddle with a view that appears lighter, brighter and more realistic. This helmet also comes with the 3M Speedglas Silver Front Panel 9100XXi, which offers the convenience of switching between welding mode and shade 3 grinding mode with a simple “gloves-on” touch of an external button on the silver front panel. There is not any want to remove the helmet to change these settings. Memory modes allow accessing one of two pre-set welding modes. An instant “Grab and Go” feature automatically turns the welding filter on to your most recent welding setting whenever you pick up the helmet. To save on power, it automatically shuts down after a period of state of no activity.

The Speedglas lens features user-selectable dark shades 5, 8, 9 through 13, and a light shade of 3. With a viewing area of 2.8 inches high x 4.2 inches wide (72 mm x 107 mm), the 9100XX provides the largest viewing area available in the 9100 Series helmets, an expansive field of view that helps the welder to see the work in progress with minimal obstruction. Three sensors in the lens activate the auto-darkening filter when an arc is struck. The lens then switches from light to dark shade in approximately 0.1 milliseconds (1/10,000 of a second), giving the welder an instant transition from light to dark shade At the same time as maintaining an optimal view for torch placement and weld puddle keep watch over. When the weld is complete, the filter automatically returns to light shade 3 with a delay of approximately 40-250 milliseconds, allowing almost immediate inspection of the weld pool and preparation for the next weld.
