At the 2019 Best in the Desert Parker 425 off road race, Terrible Herbst Monster Energy Trophy Truck #91, driven by Christian Sourapas, was racing for the lead at 112 MPH (180 KPH) when disaster struck…
FYI: Driver never turned the wheel to avoid the cows. Slamming on the breaks to decelerate as much a possible led to the truck pitching slightly sideways. The force of hitting over 2000 pounds of cattle destroyed the truck, broke the steering and basically made the truck impossible to control. Simply staying on the gas would not have been a smart decision because it is an open cockpit truck and if any part of the cow were to come in the cab it could have been potentially deadly to the driver and navigator.
